I’ve been writing and reflecting about the affects of this pandemic for more than a month now.
When I’m not writing on this blog, I am working and since I work in (marketing) at a health care organization, there is always work revolving around covid communications.
(Also, I like how I just call it “covid”, like it’s a childhood friend. Go home, covid, we are not friends!)
When I’m not working or writing on this blog, I am probably talking to my husband about something covid-related, or commenting about a random neighbor’s house we saw that clearly had guests over and complaining about how people are refusing to change their personal behavior for the greater good.
And then, if I am not doing any of the above, I am probably texting or talking with my friends about “when will this madness end so I can see you again?”
I definitely don’t follow the news as closely as I had when covid first broke in the U.S. It was getting to be too heartbreaking and depressing.
My state governor shared his plan for Washington state “to open back up.” It has four phases. I haven’t read any of it because honestly, I don’t want to get my hopes up just to get them shattered. According to my mom, I’ll be able to come over for dinner when phase 2 is in place at the end of the month. Who knows if we will even get to phase 2 according to the plan.
Maybe I’m being pessimistic.
I’m usually an optimistic person. But, I’m just tired.
Even work emails end with “Stay safe” or “Be well!” I know they all mean well but they are tiring, too.
Also, what’s with the overuse of the phrase “unprecedented times”? Bryce likes to argue that there is precedence because the Spanish Flu happened. He argues with no one because I just listen and agree. I guess the correct phrase would be “unprecedented in our lifetime” …
I find myself sighing and telling my friends that this is a “weird” time. I don’t know how else to describe it. I also just type out the word “Sigh” more often than probably necessary.
Because, what else is there to do but sigh and keep talking about all of this?
